Mechatronics Robotics 2022-2023

WVS Premier Mechatronics Robotics Academy had 2 VRC HS teams (1010X & 1010N), and 1 VRC MS team (10012X) participate.

Results:

Tournament Champions: 1010 X – Thomas Lee, Joanne Moon, Madeleine Reynolds, Sunny Xu

Tournament Finalists: 1010 N – Liam Teale, Arlo Maquire, Brad Cho, Robin Kim

Robot Skills 3rd place, Semifinalists: 1012 X – Lucan Chugani, Ryan Agnew, Yuanda Zhang

The teams worked hard during the summer, WVS Robotics teachers (Mr. Todd Ablett & Dr. Mahesh Chugani) opening the classrooms to supervise the students who wanted to work on robotics and enter this competition. The teachers were excited as well as they set up the new game so the teams of students could come and practice!

In West Vancouver Schools, we thrive on looking for ways to provide opportunity for students, especially when they ask if they can ‘come to school during the summer break.’ We know the benefits for these students are many as not only did they increase confidence in their knowledge, skills, and abilities leading into the start of the school year, but they also found working on their robots a whole lot of fun! This experience was not additional schoolwork because they were engaged in an activity they so enjoy.
