West Vancouver Schools has a number of ongoing initiatives and there are many ways to get involved. The list below describes some of the more traditional entry points for parent involvement, but opportunities to consult with us or get involved in events happen throughout the year. These will be announced directly to parents through direct communication from the West Vancouver School District and/or your school.
Contribute to the West Vancouver Board of Education’s Enhanced Learning Opportunities Fund
In 2014, the West Vancouver Board of Education created an endowment fund to enhance opportunities for students. Outgoing Board Chair, Cindy Dekker, made a generous $10,000 contribution to start the fund, which is managed locally by the West Vancouver Community Foundation.
To contribute to the fund, please contact the West Vancouver Community Foundation. Questions about the fund may be directed to WVSD’s Secretary-Treasurer Julia Leiterman at jleiterman@wvschools.ca.

Public Board Meetings
One way to find out what’s happening in our schools is to attend a public Board meeting. Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month, starting at 7 pm. Board meetings take place in the Board Room at the Board Office, 1075 – 21st St., West Vancouver. All members of the public are welcome.
Board meeting agendas and minutes are available online.
Board Committees
The Board of Education may from time to time elect to strike a standing or ad hoc committee to investigate relevant issues, problems, or needs, and to present findings to the Board in the form of additional information or recommendations for Board action.
Representation on a Board committee may include members of stakeholder groups and the community at large. For more information on getting involved on a Board committee, contact the Board Office at (604) 981-1000.
