École Cedardale aspires to create a caring, inclusive, and engaging collaborative community of multi-lingual lifelong learners. Through knowledge, creativity, and inquiry we are inspired to think critically and take action both locally and globally in an environment of mutual respect.
École Cedardale is the first and only French Immersion elementary school in the province to combine the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) with French Immersion programming, and is one of five IB World Schools in the West Vancouver School District. As an Early French Immersion school, the primary language of instruction is French beginning in Kindergarten.
The decision to pursue IB authorization flowed from an extensive community consultation process. The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people, who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The program focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
