Grade 6 Late French Immersion Information Meeting

February 6, 2018 - 2 minutes read

Once again, the Board of Education for West Vancouver would like to offer the opportunity for students currently enrolled in Grade 5 to enter the well-established and effective Late French Immersion program at École Pauline Johnson in September 2018.

The Late French Immersion program transitions into the Secondary French Immersion program for Grades 8-12, which leads to student graduation with a bilingual Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma).  Upon completion of their Grade 7 year, students from both the Early French Immersion and Grade 6 Late French Immersion programs are guaranteed placement in the Secondary French Immersion program at Sentinel Secondary School.

École Pauline Johnson has offered an Early French Immersion (Kindergarten/Grade 1) program in West Vancouver since 1978, and a Grade 6 Late French Immersion program since 2000. Both programs are highly regarded by parents as an important alternative choice for the education of their children.

It is essential that the decision to participate in the Late French Immersion program be shared by you and your child, and it is important to note that good work habits and a positive attitude toward learning a second language are important for student success. Please visit http://westvancouverschools.ca/programs/late-french for more details about the program.

To learn more about Late French Immersion, all Grade 5 students and their families are invited to the
