Important Information

You will receive an email with further instructions from École Pauline Johnson admissions within 24 – 48 hours of submission of your online application.

To comply with health and safety guidelines, all required admissions documents are being accepted electronically.
Parents and visitors should not enter the school without an appointment.

Good-quality electronic copies of all required documentation must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian to paulinejohnson@wvschools.ca
PDF copies are preferred. Poor quality scans or photos will not be accepted.

Documents must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian, not another family member, caregiver or friend. Relocation and/or real estate agents are not permitted to act independently for parents.

In order for your child to be included in the EFI Kindergarten lottery for September 2021 entry, all documentation must be received before 3pm on Monday, November 30, 2020. No exceptions will be made.

Student Admissions

École Pauline Johnson is pleased to accept applications for children entering Kindergarten who reside both within and outside of the West Vancouver School District.

Early French Immersion is offered at both École Cedardale and École Pauline Johnson.

Enrollment in Early French Immersion generally occurs at the Kindergarten level, although students may enter the program at the Grade 1 level until December of the school year, space permitting.

Late French Immersion begins at Grade 6 and is offered at École Pauline Johnson Elementary only. Please read the West Vancouver Schools Late French Immersion admission guidelines for more information.

When to Apply

Admission for the 2020 – 2021 school year is ongoing, with some availability at certain grade levels. Contact the school office directly for more information. Waitlists are not carried over from year to year.

Admission for the 2021 – 2022 school year begins in the fall, according to the following timelines:

OCTOBER 15 – NOVEMBER 30, 2020

  • Applications accepted for all students entering Kindergarten (including in-catchment, out-of-catchment and out-of-district)

OCTOBER 15, 2020

  • Applications accepted for all IN-DISTRICT students entering Grades 1 – 7 who are currently enroled in a French Immersion program
  • Applications accepted for any IN-DISTRICT students entering Grade 6 Late French Immersion in September. (Must successfully complete Grade 5 in June 2021.) No previous experience in French is required.

JANUARY 15, 2021

  • Applications accepted for all OUT-OF-DISTRICT applicants entering Grades 1 to 7 who are currently enroled in a French Immersion program
  • Applications accepted for any OUT-OF-DISTRICT students entering Grade 6 Late French Immersion in September. (Must successfully complete Grade 5 in June 2021.) No previous experience in French is required.

Current students do not need to re-apply

Due to the strong demand for this program of choice, West Vancouver School District will conduct a lottery in early December 2020 to identify those children who will be registered for Early French Immersion Kindergarten in September 2021.

The registration will follow Ministry guidelines and Board policy. Any applications missing required documentation as of the close of the lottery will not be included in the lottery.

Students may be included in both the lottery for EFI IB PYP at École Cedardale and the lottery for regular EFI at École Pauline Johnson, provided both schools are selected as prioritized school choices on the online application form.

Current students do not need to re-apply.

Important: Applications are not considered complete until you have submitted all supporting documentation. Students with incomplete applications will not receive offers nor be placed on wait lists.
