Important Information

2019-2020 School Year
École Cedardale continues to accept applications for the 2019-2020 school year, but has extremely limited availability in primary grades. New applicants are unlikely to be placed. Please contact the school office directly for more information.

You will receive an email with further instructions from École Cedardale admissions within 24 – 48 hours of submission of your online application.

École Cedardale will be accepting and processing supporting documentation for 2020-2021 admissions at the following times:

Monday, October 21st 8:30am – 11:00am

Thursday, November 21st 8:00am  – 11:00am

Please note: Documents must be complete and presented in person by a parent or legal guardian, not another family member, caregiver or friend. Relocation agents and/or real estate agents are not permitted to act independently for parents.

In order for your child to be included in the EFI PYP Kindergarten lottery for September 2020 entry, all documentation must be received before 3pm on Monday, December 2, 2019. No exceptions will be made.

Student Admissions

École Cedardale is pleased to accept applications for children entering Kindergarten who reside both within and outside of the West Vancouver School District.

Early French Immersion is offered at both École Cedardale and École Pauline Johnson.

École Cedardale is also offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP). There is an associated fee with the IB PYP program in West Vancouver.

Enrollment in Early French Immersion generally occurs at the Kindergarten level, although students may enter the program at the Grade 1 level until December of the school year, space permitting.

Late French Immersion begins at Grade 6 and is offered at École Pauline Johnson Elementary only. Please read the West Vancouver School’s Late French Immersion admission guidelines for more information.

When to Apply

Although priority is given based on catchment location to applicants following the timeline listed below, we appreciate that circumstances sometimes require late registration and encourage you to contact our office at 604-981-1390 to inquire about our late registration policy and to join our wait list.

Please note: Waitlists are not carried over from year to year.

Admission for the 2020 – 2021 school year begins in the fall, according to the following timelines:

OCT 15, 2019 – DECEMBER 2, 2019

  • All applicants entering Kindergarten (including in-catchment, out-of-catchment and out-of-district)

OCT 15, 2019 – MARCH 2, 2020

  • All in-district applicants entering Grades 1 – 7 who are currently enroled in a French Immersion program

JANUARY 15 – JANUARY 31, 2020

  • All out-of-district applicants entering Grades 1 to 7 who are currently enroled in a French Immersion program

Current students do not need to re-apply

Due to the strong demand for this program of choice, West Vancouver School District will conduct a lottery in early December 2019 to identify those children who will be registered for Early French Immersion IB PYP Kindergarten.

The registration will follow Ministry guidelines and Board policy. Any applications missing required documentation as of the close of the lottery will not be included in the lottery.

Students may be included in both the lottery for EFI IB PYP at École Cedardale and the lottery for regular EFI at École Pauline Johnson, provided both schools are selected as prioritized school choices on the online application form.

Simply click here to submit an online application form. Please note that all registration is done online and applications will be date and time stamped at the point of online submission.

Important: Applications are not considered complete until you have submitted all supporting documentation to the school office. Students with incomplete applications will not receive offers nor be placed on wait lists.

KINDERGARTEN
Applications for children born in 2015 who will enter Kindergarten in September 2020 will be available online beginning at 8:00am on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 and continuing until 3:00pm on Monday, December 2, 2019.

GRADE 1
Enrollment in Early French Immersion generally occurs at the Kindergarten level, although students may enter the program at the Grade 1 level until December of the school year, space permitting. Registration for Grade 1 is handled according to the usual priority system. Online registrations will be added to the waitlist only when all supporting documentation has been received at the École Cedardale office.

Supporting Documentation

After submitting an application online, we will contact you by email and request that you submit original documentation to Ecole Cedardale so copies can be made to complete your admissions package.

PLEASE NOTE: École Cedardale requires a proof of residence and a minimum of TWO primary support documents for that residence.
