Linda Harrison’s legacy carries on with Youth Fund
January 26, 2017 - 3 minutes readThe West Vancouver Community Foundation has launched the Linda Harrison Youth Fund. Linda was a youth worker employed with West Vancouver Schools since 2000. She was an extraordinary person who gave selflessly to those around her, and was connected most recently to the Rockridge community through the work that she did as a youth worker and the many clubs and events she sponsored.
Message from the Family
It has been eight months since Linda’s passing and reflecting back, it is difficult to put into words the impact of her loss! Linda’s passing was both tragic and inspirational. It brought forward for all of us the incredible fragility of life, as well as the strength of the living.
As we all know, Linda had a great passion for working with youth. She had a huge impact on the lives of countless students and families, bringing young people hope, and inspiring them to reach their full potential. I am therefore very excited and proud to announce that we have launched the Linda Harrison Youth Fund to carrying on Linda’s legacy. The mission of the fund is to “undertake initiatives which actively engage and support youth, educators, parents and members of the community to foster a culture of understanding, compassion, respect and responsibility within the school community.”
We would be grateful for your support of this youth initiative to carry on Linda’s legacy of limitless giving to her community. We are delighted that the fund has been established with the West Vancouver Community Foundation (WVCF) which has approved the Linda Harrison Youth Fund and its mission. All donations will support the mission through scholarships, bursaries, workshops, educational and community programs as directed by myself (Bill Harrison), Linda Hathaway and Greg Nash.
Our goal was to raise $100,000 by the end of 2016. We are well on our way having reached 25% of our goal and all donations large or small will be greatly appreciated. The WVCF will issue tax receipts for all charitable donations in excess of $25.00. Donations may be made by going to the following link online through CanadaHelps:
