Maria Yioldassis
June 13, 2022 - 1 minute readMaria Yioldassis is our District ELL Coordinator responsible for influencing English Language Learning guidelines, policies and pedagogy. She has over 30 years of teaching experience and is a proud UBC Alumni, whose educational background includes Graduate work in the fields of language acquisition, literacy, and assessment. Maria continues to give back to UBC as a guest lecturer for teacher candidates and by collaborating with UBC Professors on various language and literacy projects. She has also had the opportunity to be part of working groups with the Ministry of Education in the development of The ELL Standards and The My Education Annual Instructional Plan.
An important part of her role as District ELL Coordinator is to provide support and professional learning opportunities to both ELL and classroom teachers. Maria is passionate about equitable and inclusive learning for all students.
