Music’s Our Medicine and More

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for students with Aboriginal ancestry from West Vancouver Secondary School, Rockridge Secondary School and Sentinel Secondary School.  This event focuses on providing opportunities for students to connect and share with one another.  Goals of the day include helping to develop leadership skills, confidence and cultural pride.

The Music’s Our Medicine  workshop will take place in the morning. Students will have the opportunity to write, produce, and compose a unique song with Leeland Askew from the Squamish Nation.

In the afternoon students will head to Mosquito Creek in North Vancouver where S7ahplek Lanakila (Bob Baker) will introduce the youth to the culture of canoeing within the Squamish nation through discussion and a short journey.

Canoe journey with Sahplek

Finish at Mosquito Creek.  Those students wishing transportation back to West Vancouver Secondary School board school bus.
