Program Goals

The primary goal of this program is to provide a formal tennis training program within the academic setting, to allow for achievement and excellence in sport and education.

West Vancouver Schools Premier Tennis Academy is a sports program within the public school system that offers young tennis players the opportunity not only to participate in a unique training schedule, but also to complete their academic course requirements.

This program is strictly supplementary to the existing programs run by various tennis clubs.

Eligibility

  • Students must be registered full time at Rockridge, Sentinel or West Vancouver Secondary School
  • Grades 8-12
  • Satisfactory to excellent academic progress
  • It is important that students come with solid work habits and a strong work ethic
  • Evidence of being socially responsible

Tuition is $4000 per year. This fee is divided into 10 equal payments @ $400 per month x 10 months (September to June).

Program Details

Eligibility:

Students, Grades 8-12, registered full time in any one of the district’s public schools: Rockridge, Sentinel or West Vancouver Secondary are eligible to apply and to then participate in an on-court assessment.

The Location:

West Vancouver Tennis Club (September to April)

Sentinel Secondary Outdoor Courts (May and June)

The Schedule:

Linear (all year long)

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

6:45 a.m. – 7:55 a.m.

Preparation:

For safety reasons, students are to arrive to the WVTC dressed and ready to participate.

Transportation:

Parents responsible for transportation both to the WVTC and back to the students’ respective schools for first period start time.

Courses:

For participation in the Tennis Academy, students receive the following Ministry course based on the student grade level:

Physical & Health Education 8

Physical & Health Education 10
Fitness& Conditioning 11
Fitness & Conditioning 12
