There are 2 documents – one that the natural parents sign in front of а notary and one that the custodian signs in front of а notary. Both documents must be in the student’s file (copies are fine) with the information entered into the database and sent to the appropriate school.
The custodian should (must) be:
- А Canadian citizen or a Landed immigrant
- Resident in the Vancouver lower mainland
- Over 25 years of age
- Speak English
Natural Parents Steps:
- Use the document called: Custodianship Declaration – Parents/Guardians for Minors Studying in Canada
- Fill in the Student Information
- Fill in the Parents/Guardians Information
- Fill in the Custodian Information
- Fill in the bottom section, but do NOT sign the document
- Go to а notary or lawyer to have the parent’s signature witnessed, signed, and stamped by a notary /lawyer
Custodian Steps:
- Use the document called: Custodianship Declaration – Custodian for Minors Studying in Canada
- Fill in the Student Information (must match the information on the Parent’s document)
- Fill in the Parents/Guardians Information (must match the information on the Parent’s document)
- Fill in the Custodian Information
- Fill in the bottom section, but do NOT sign the document
- Go to а notary to have the custodian’s signature witnessed, signed, and stamped bу the notary
Once both documents are notarized, stamped, and signed, copies are to be given to the West Vancouver International Programs office staff.
