Student Information

Take me back to the main website.

To apply to attend one of West Vancouver Schools elementary or secondary schools, please click on the button.

West Vancouver Schools will only accept complete applications using our secure online application system. Mailed, emailed, or faxed applications are no longer accepted. Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be processed.

Before you begin the online application process, please make sure you have collected all the necessary information and documents (see below). You will need the applicant’s complete information and at least one parent’s complete information. This includes names, birthdates, addresses, etc. Required and recommended documents must be submitted as PDF or JPEG files only and less than 5MB each. If any document is larger than 5MB, it has been scanned at too high a resolution and must be rescanned at a lower resolution before beginning the application process.

The application fee for international students is $300 CAD and is non-refundable. Please have a major credit card ready for the final page of the online application system.

You only have 30 days to submit an application once you create a new application. Old applications will be automatically deleted. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Required documents

In order to submit an application, the documents listed below are required. If you do not upload these documents into the online application system, you cannot complete the application process.

  1. Transcripts or report cards. You must have a record of grades for the last two years, translated into English. They must be in PDF or JPEG format only and less than 5MB in size. You will only able to upload one document, so please ensure all pages of the records of grades are scanned as a single document.
  2. Passport photo page. Please scan the passport photo page of the applicant’s passport, if they have a passport already. This allows us to double-check the applicant’s information to ensure that all correspondence is correct.
  3. Student’s letter of intent. Not required for elementary applicants. This letter is written by the student explaining their desire to come to Canada and study in West Vancouver Schools. It should outline their past studies, their interests and hobbies, and their future goals. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  4. English language exam. Only Grade 10 and Grade 11 students wishing to graduate in West Vancouver Schools are required to submit an English exam result. Please upload one of the following results with your application. Not required for elementary applicants or secondary students who will only stay for one semester or one year.
If you would like to take the CMGE test, please email Michael Frankowski at mfrankowski@wvschools.ca. The test may be taken online with immediate results. The fee of $100 will be added to your application fee.

    CMGE IELTS TOEFL iBT EIKEN
    Grade 10 Level 3 4.0 – 4.5 41-52 2
    Grade 11 Level 4 4.6 – 5.0 53-64 2A
  5. Legal Agreement. The parent(s) of the applicant must sign our agreement. Before starting the application process, please download the International Student Legal Agreement 2025, have it signed in ink, and scanned as a PDF or JPEG file only.

Recommended documents

We recommend that you collect the following documents prior to applying. These documents assist us in making an admission decision should we require additional information.

  1. Letter of Recommendation. Please have a teacher, school counsellor, or Headmaster/Principal write a letter of recommendation for the applicant. This letter should be on school letterhead and identify the student and their strong points. If this letter is longer than one page, make sure you scan all pages as a single document.
  2. Immunization records. If you do not have original records of your immunizations, you may fill out an immunization form provided by our local health authority. There is also a section of the online application form that allows you to select and date each of your immunizations.
  3. Custodian document. If the applicant will not be part of our homestay program, or if they choose not to use our free custodianship service, they must assign a custodian. This custodian must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, over 25 years old, and must live full time in the Vancouver area.
  4. Photo albums. Some students compile a photo album for our homestay placement process. Please scan the entire album as one document.
  5. Other documents. If you have another document pertinent to admission, such as a student interview form, please submit it as a single document.
