What happens to your MSP when the school year ends?
All 10-month international students have medical insurance from BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). Please kindly review the following information regarding your coverage.
Returning for September
- If you have paid your tuition for the next school year, we have extended the coverage based on your study permit expiry date. Please always ensure we have your latest study permit.
- We will email you when your new card is available for pickup at International Office.
- If your study permit has expired, but you have not received the new one, please let us know. We will buy you Guard.Me insurance until we receive your new study permit.
Non-returning for September
- If you have not registered for the next school year, we will automatically cancel your MSP on June 30 (or January 31 if this is the last day of your school enrollment). Students who are not returning for September are asked to leave before June 30 or purchase their own medical insurance after June.
Not returning for International Programs, but staying in BC
- This applies to you if you:
- Graduate or withdraw from West Vancouver Schools but will continue studying in BC in the upcoming school year
- Become a non-fee paying student (e.g., permanent residents, refugees, diplomats, or under parent’s work/study permit)
- Please email us your current residential/mailing address, and we will help you update information with Health Insurance BC. You will manage your MSP account and receive future correspondence (such as monthly invoice, MSP card, and notice).
For any questions regarding MSP, please contact Ms. Jenny Chung, Office Manager of the International Programs, at jchung@wvschools.ca.
