A letter from Chris Kennedy, Superintendent of Schools:

March 13, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,
There have been many developments since my update letter sent yesterday. Most recently, the Government of Canada has issued an official Advisory to Canadians to Avoid All Non-essential Travel Outside of Country. This is coming on the heels of Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry’s recommendation that British Columbians avoid “all non-essential travel outside of Canada, including to the United States.”

She further notes, “anyone who chooses to travel outside of Canada will be asked to stay away from work or school for 14 days upon their return.” West Vancouver Schools is asking our families and employees to heed this advice.

At present, health authorities are not advising school closures. We continue to work closely and take direction from our provincial health experts at the Ministry of Health and Vancouver Coastal Health to ensure the continued safety and well-being of students and staff.
