The Senior Girls Volleyball team played in the Seaquam Pink Ribbon Tourney this weekend understaffed. Thanks to Libby Meldrum, Kate Lytle and Jenny Ellis-Whyte the team survived Friday night and won the consolation finals on Saturday. Gabby Araujo and Macy Meldrum had the most kills of the weekend and Libby lead the team with assists. Come support the team this Thursday night for the first home league game at 7:30 pm. Romina Pour Mina and Gabby Araujo were outstanding team leaders through out the whole tournament!

The Senior Football team moved to 3 and 1 with a last second touchdown pass from Ben Corbett to Ethan Johnston. The exciting win propels the team in to league play this Friday at home with a 2:00 pm start. See you there!

Congrats to the Senior Field Hockey team for finishing 2nd at the UBC tournament this past weekend. The girls had such an amazing 2.5 days of field hockey. They won the pool and played extremely well in the final match. Next up, the prestigious Bridgman Cup next weekend. Good luck girls!

Attention all Girls Rugby Players! There will be a meeting Tuesday at lunch in C331 for jersey sizing. New players welcome!

The Student Council would like to thank those brave runners who came out on Friday for the Terry Fox Run. Because of the rain the Council did not meet their fundraising goal to support Cancer Research but you can still help - donate today in front of the cafeteria at recess and lunch and get a prestigious Terry Fox tattoo!

WVSS will be forming a Gymnastics Team this year. If you are interested in high school gymnastics, there will be a mandatory meeting today in C236 at lunch. See you there gymnasts!

The Senior Girls Volleyball team played their second exhibition match against Handsworth #2 in the province. They played with strong defense to WIN the second game! Cate Sykes lead the team with assists and contributed with 5 kills. Nicola Aspden and Macy Meldrum each had 6 kills. Romina Pour-Mina led the team in the back court. The team is at the Pink Ribbon tournament this weekend and on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd they play their first home game of the season at 7:30 pm. Come cheer on your Senior volleyball team!

The Terry Fox Run is today. Come to the track at 12;50 and make your donation. The run will start at 1:05 and will only take 10 minutes. Run or walk and then pick up your memento and check in to get a point for your house. Come out, fight against cancer and keep Terry's legacy going.

The West Van School District Honour Choirs are holding a Chipotle fundraiser today from 4 to 8. If you go, make sure to say you support the WVSD Honour Choirs as you are paying to help us fundraise for our trip to Europe.

Sept. 28th, 2017

Congrats to the Juvenile Girls Volleyball team for their come-from-behind win against Windsor. After being down 2 sets to nothing the girls pushed the game to a fifth set where they started slowly, getting behind 6-0. They rallied and won 15-13 in the fifth. Go Highlanders!

Congrats to the Senior Field Hockey team on their win against the Sentinel Spartans yesterday. The girls start a 3-day tournament at UBC tonight. Good luck team!

Yesterday the Highlander Cross Country team was in action. Highlights included Megan Roxby`s victory in the Senior Girls race and the Senior Boys victory withe great races by Aidan, Alexander and Dom. Other strong runs were turned in by Mia Zurkovic, Jonathan Keyton, Lucas Robertson, Margot Warner and Nicholas Owen. Easy practice today after school.

Bantam Girls Volleyball defeated the Rockridge Ravens yesterday to win their season opener. Congratulations on a terrific start and great teamwork girls!

Congrats to the Gr. 8 Boys Rugby team on their first game of the season against Carson Graham. Both teams scored 4 ties a piece with West Van's courtesy of Shayan Kermany, Bruce Jones and Braedon George. Practice is on the North Field today!

Senior Girls Volleyball team battled hard against STA last night. They won the side out percentages and the overall team points, losing narrowly in the 5th set by 2 points, delaying the next match by one hour. We will take them in league! Cate and Macy Meldrum had top assists. Shannon Bushe and Nicola Aspden lead the team in kills.

Senior Field Hockey take on rivals Sentinel Spartans today. Come down to Rutledge Field at 3:30 to cheer them on.
