Assessment and Communicating Student Learning (CSL)

March 12, 2021 - 2 minutes read

Dear Parents,

Today your child completes Term Two of a very interesting school year.  There have been many challenges, as you know, however we have managed to continue our important work together to support your children academically, socially, and emotionally during unusual times.  Your collaboration has been a major part of our success.

Your child’s report card will be shared with you at the end of the day.  I recently read through some information that was compiled by a colleague for his school community.  With his permission, I took some time this week to add our PJ and SD45 context to it, with the hopes that it will help you better understand what your child’s teacher is communicating to you and where your child is really at.

A good reminder is that the ‘Supporting Student Learning’ section of your child’s report is the place you really want to focus on.  It outlines areas for further support and development for each student and offers suggestions for you, as parents, at home.

If you have any questions at all regarding your child’s progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher.  If you’re curious to learn more about assessment in general, please let me know.

Have a restful break and we look forward to welcoming you all back, rejuvenated and ready to take on what we all hope is the last term of school in pandemic conditions.

We’ve got this!

Stay safe,

Tara
