Patti Williams Scholarship
In 2014 long-time Chartwell teacher Patti Williams retired after teaching for 37 years in West Vancouver – 31 of those at our school.
Mrs. Williams is recognized for her outstanding teaching. She taught every grade from 3 to 7 and for her last eight years, taught our Gr. 6/7’s and filled the formal role as Head Teacher at Chartwell for Principal Aron Campbell.
She spearheaded the Chartwell Gr 6/7 Leadership Club –fundraising for causes around the world and here at home, running 3-5 initiatives every year. Her passion for social responsibility and global awareness has inspired students throughout her career. She had a tremendous impact on the lives of students at Chartwell over the years through her daily teaching, her leadership work with the upper divisions, and through mentoring of younger teachers. Her career was impactful upon many.
The Patti Williams Scholarship is part of Sentinel’s internal scholarship offerings and is only offered to Grade 12 students. To receive the Patti Williams Scholarship the graduating Sentinel student must have attended Chartwell Elementary.
Criteria:
The recipient of this scholarship has demonstrated many desirable attributes as he/she moves on to the next chapter in life’s journey such as:
- The ability to adapt to different situations; showing resiliency and perseverance.
- A strong work ethic, confidence, curiosity and a passion for learning.
- He/she recognizes the importance of social responsibility and ethical behaviour.
- He/she is a multi-dimensional and collaborative team member.
How to apply:
The scholarship and bursary list is published and promoted to the Sentinel Grade 12 community starting in mid/late April. Grade 12 students can pick up an application form from the Sentinel office and must submit the documents by mid/late May. The scholarship is given out at the Commencement Ceremony in June.
