September 2016- BACK TO SCHOOL!
August 28, 2016 - 3 minutes readWelcome back to all the returning students and families. We look forward to reconnecting with your family and seeing how much the children have grown over the summer! I would also like to welcome those who are new to Cedardale and invite you to get involved in the many opportunities that are available to our learners and their parents.
We were notified on the last full day of classes that Ecole Cedardale was authorized to become the first French Immersion school in the Province to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program and we look forward to our continued learning and collaboration with the International Baccalaureate organization. We would like to thank families for their support throughout our candidacy years and on an ongoing basis as we continue to offer this high quality educational programme.
Work on the physical building has also continued over the summer with the renovation of the previous library into a new classroom as we strive to meet the needs of our growing population.
Please take a few minutes to review the following ‘School Opening Procedures’ information. Parents of Kindergarten students will receive a separate email indicating their times for gradual entry and are encouraged to attend the Welcome Tea on September 6th.
Regular communication home is important to us so that you may be aware of what is happening at the school. Occasionally we will send home information on paper however; electronic means are our preferred method of contact. If you have not already done so, please be sure to subscribe to our ebulletin by clicking on the subscribe button of the school webpage. The webpage is currently undergoing a redesign with a new webpage being launched in the September.
We do our best to keep our school website and calendar up to date and will also continue sending out our Thursday e-bulletin. Within the first few weeks of class we will be sending out Student Information Forms, Emergency Contact Information, and access information for our e-forms. We recognize that it is a lot of paperwork at a busy time, but would ask that you complete them as soon as possible.
A great way to have a finger on the pulse at Cedardale is to take an active part in the Parent Advisory Council (PAC). We have a very active and supportive Parents Advisory Council that meets on a monthly basis. They will be hosting a Welcome Tea on Opening Day and I invite you to come and meet this year’s executive.
I am also looking forward to meeting parents and guardians at Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 22nd. Of course, students and parents/guardians are always welcome to come in to meet with Cedardale staff, and although we are frequently available, please make an appointment when possible.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
