IB Admissions Testing for September 2025 Entry

West Vancouver Secondary School welcomes students interested in applying for its Pre-Diploma, IB Course and IB Diploma Programmes for entry in the fall of 2025. Students who are interested in our IB Programmes are required to write a critical thinking Admissions test and be interviewed to be considered for admission. Depending on the program of interest, some students may also need to do a Written test and submit a Pre-Diploma Programme Admission Application form, a Course Programme Admission Application form, or a Diploma Programme Admission Application form.

Critical Thinking Test:

• All  Pre-Diploma Programme applicants must complete this test.
• You can only take the test once.
•  IB 11 applicants who took the test last year cannot re-take it.  New applicants should attend one of the testing dates.
• Current WVSS Math-Enriched 9 students will write the test in class in January and do not need to attend another testing date.
• The test takes about an hour.
• It is a multiple choice test that evaluates logical thinking, cognitive competencies, and reasoning ability. You cannot prepare in advance for it.

Written Test (for IB Gr. 11 applicants – Diploma and Course programmes):

• Applicants will have 20 minutes to complete a written response to a prompt.
• We are looking for evidence of reasoning skills, creativity, and clear communication.
• Spelling and grammar do not need to be perfect but you should be able to follow standard writing conventions at a grade 10 level.

Admission Applications:

For Fall 2025 entry, students from schools and catchment areas outside WVSS must fill out and submit one of the following application forms by Friday Jan. 31, 2025:

• Pre-Diploma Programme Admission Application
• Course Programme Admission Application
• Diploma Programme Admission Application
