IB and PDP Admissions Testing for September 2026 Entry

Critical Thinking Test:

  • All applicants to PDP 10, and any applicants to IB 11 who did not take the test last year.
  • You can only take the test once. IB 11 applicants who took the test last year cannot re-take it.
  • Current WVSS Math-Enriched 9 students will write the test in class in January and do not need to attend another testing date.
  • The test takes about an hour.
  • It is a multiple choice test that evaluates reading, logical thinking, cognitive competencies, and reasoning ability. You cannot prepare in advance, and no practice tests are available.

Written Test for IB 11 Applicants

  • Applicants will have 20 minutes to complete a written response to a prompt.
  • We are looking for evidence of reasoning skills, creativity, and clear communication.
  • Spelling and grammar do not need to be perfect but you should be able to follow standard writing conventions at a grade 10 level.

​Admission Test

West Vancouver Secondary School PDP applicants and all students from outside of WVSS may select one of the following times to take our Critical Thinking Test which is required for admission to our IB programmes:

  • January 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. in room W346
  • January 29, 2026, at 3:15 p.m. in room W346
  • February 24, 2026, at 3:15 p.m. in room W346

The Critical Thinking Test is a multiple choice test that evaluates logical thinking, cognitive competencies, and reasoning ability and students cannot prepare for it in advance. A Written Test will be administered at the same time to IB 11 applicants.
