Earning the Diploma
In order to achieve the IB Diploma a candidate must fulfill certain requirements, achieving at least 24 points from their combined grades in six subjects, together with their grades for Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, and also complete the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) element.
Each of the IB Courses is assessed an IB grade level of 1-7. The academic subjects are combined to award a final score out of 42. Students can achieve a maximum of 45 points including points given for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge components.
All subjects (with the exception of CAS) are evaluated using both internal and external assessments. At WVSS, the externally-assessed IB examinations, both written and oral, are taken in May of the students’ Grade 12 year.
