ANNOUNCEMENTS
Historical Halloween – Div. 22 & 23 Research project
Dear Families,
Please see the updated list of Historical Halloween figures your child will be researching. We will begin our research and writing process this week. We kindly remind you to talk about and support the process at home but leave the research and writing process to school time only. Going to the library and gathering books your child can then bring to school to do research with would be a very helpful thing to do this weekend. Once the speech is written in good copy, we will send it home with your child for them to practice rehearsing at home.
You may also start thinking about a costume your child can wear on the day they perform. Next week we will send out a schedule of when your child will be presenting. Please stay tuned!
We have also included in this email the performers for each of the days of Historical Halloween. This is NOT the order in which they will be presenting. Please note the different time slots for both days. Tuesday's presentations will begin at 1:00pm and Wednesday's presentations will begin at 9:00am. These presentations usually take about an hour to finish and we kindly ask that you stay for the entire hour.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind regards,
Sarah Everett and Erica Hardern

World Teacher’s Day – October 5th, 2018
October 5th is very special day indeed! World Teacher's Day aim is to focus on "appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world" and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.
Incredible Hands-On learning opportunity for Mr. Price’s class
As part of an innovation grant funded by the West Vancouver School District, Mr. Price’s upper elementary class had the opportunity to complete part of the Applied Design and Skills curriculum in the fully equipped WVSS wood shop. They worked together with WVSS grade 9 wood shop students to create/complete their very own take home project, from start to finish! Measuring, cutting, drilling, gluing … they did it all with guidance and help from the Grade 9's. They were also taken on a tour of the WVSS facilities and shown the 3D printers and laser cutters/printers.
