Research: What To Use
Books
- Several books have been pulled and set aside for your use in the library.
Databases
- Canadian Points of View Reference Centre (Ebsco): Click and search for thousands of essays related to environment, health, human rights, crime, race, technology, substance abuse, and many more.
- Canada in Context (Gale): Information on a broad range of Canadian topics, people, places and events written from a Canadian perspective.
- Points to the Past (Gale): A collection of primary sources accessed through 28 databases. Made up of nearly 200 million pages of digitized historical content.
- For either database: Begin with a search for your specific topic. In some cases, you may need to add “Canada” to the topic to make sure it relates to Canada, i.e. “women’s rights Canada”.

- You may find certain topics are easier to find on the internet. As such, make sure you remember to evaluate any website using the CRAAP method.
- Limit your searches to certain domains (.edu .gc .ca etc), and avoid .com
