DPAC’s Purpose

October 16, 2023 - 1 minute read

For those who are new to DPAC, our meetings are open to all parents with children currently enrolled in a West Vancouver public school. This inclusivity is a fundamental part of our commitment to representing the diverse voices within our school community.

The DPACs purpose includes maintaining an organization at the district level that represents the majority view of parents in WVSD to our local school board, the Ministry of Education and Child Care and to other district PACs on issues that affect the education of their children. As such, our role is to provide the framework for cooperative communication among parents, trustees, teachers and administrators within the West Vancouver School District.

We will continue to encourage excellence in education and the exchange of information and ideas of parents in accordance with our mission and bylaws. Your involvement helps us fulfill our organizational goals effectively, and continues to foster a thriving learning environment for our children.

We would like to take this opportunity to mention to both our new and seasoned DPAC members of how BC’s Education Stakeholders are organized on Local, District and Provincial levels as outlined by the British Columbia Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC). The BCCPAC provides valuable guidance on navigating various matters related to parent involvement and advocacy, and we encourage you to refer to their resources for additional insights. RESOURCES
