Traffic and Safety
The Traffic and Safety Committee was formed to address the many concerns of parents and SD45 staff in regard to increased traffic around district schools. A community approach was taken involving the District of West Vancouver (DWV) and West Vancouver School District (WVSD) and the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) as well as ICBC.
The Traffic and Safety Committee mandate is to develop recommendations to improve pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety around all our school sites. Ideas are submitted and (budget allowing) resources are directed to alleviate these issues in the short and long term.
Comprehensive School Health Committee
The Comprehensive School Health Committee’s mandate is to make the school district as health literate and as health-promoting as possible. Representatives from stakeholder groups and community organizations sit on this committee, and help guide the implementation of policies, procedures, and curriculum related to healthy schools promotion.
Committee members include representatives from the District of West Vancouver, Vancouver Coastal Health, the West Vancouver District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC), West Vancouver Municipal Employees Association (WVMEA), the West Vancouver Teachers’ Association (WVTA), and students in West Vancouver School District.
The DPAC has standing and ad hoc committees, and we are also invited to send representatives to many community-based committees. To participate, please contact your PAC Chair, your DPAC Rep, or a member of the DPAC Executive.
