Traffic & Safety
Traffic & Safety Information
The Traffic and Safety Committee was formed to address the many concerns of parents and SD45 staff in regard to increased traffic around district schools. A community approach was taken involving the District of West Vancouver (DWV) and West Vancouver School District (WVSD) and the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) as well as ICBC.
The Traffic and Safety Committee mandate is to develop recommendations to improve pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety around all our school sites. Ideas are submitted and (budget allowing) resources are directed to alleviate these issues in the short and long term.

Student School Travel Video Contest
WE HAVE A WINNER!
Congratulations to Bill Li, Mackey Zhou, Cindy Zeng, and Derek Wu who shared the top prize for their entry in the Sentinel Sustainable Commuting Initiative competition. The video effectively captures the frustration we all feel when stuck in traffic, and the sense of freedom and fun that comes when we can choose alternatives. The judges said it was funny, engaging and very clear in its message.

Bike to school week is May 29- Jun 2. If you haven’t register already take a look at the links before:
Secondary Schools
Secondary schools are encouraged to register through Go by Bike Week and track their trips using our online tracking tool instead of through Bike to School Week. To sign up, a member from the high school will act as your team leader, setting up the high school as a ‘team’ by registering the school at bikehub.ca/registration. After creating a team, your team leader is able to invite fellow students and teachers to join your team. They are eligible to win Go by Bike Week prizes by logging trips through our tracking tool. In addition a separate set of prizes are also awarded to top-performing high school students (e.g., most trips logged, most km logged, the top rider from new school).
