Please respect school staff and volunteers who help to keep children safe by directing traffic.<\/p>\n<p>By choosing to carpool, bus or use active transportation options (such as walking) to school you can help to reduce congestion and stress increase safety in our school zones.<\/p>\n<p>If you must drive, please set a good example for others at all times.<\/p>\n<p>During busy periods, consider taking a \u201cDrive to 5\u201d approach. That means you drive most of the way but leave the car in a spot that\u2019s just a 5 minute walk from school.<\/p>\n<h3>Carpooling or Driving to School<\/h3>\n<p>Give yourself enough time to travel to avoid distracted driving and impatient actions put students at risk.<\/p>\n<p>DO:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Drive lawfully and safely, without distraction &#8211; your behaviour is a model for others<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Obey 30 km\/ph School Zone and Playground Zone speed limits<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Stop at stop signs, and for pedestrians in crosswalks<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Obey posted &#8220;No Stopping&#8221; and &#8220;No Parking&#8221; signs. Pick-up and drop-off only means no parking.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Encourage children to cross only at designated crosswalks and to look both ways before crossing the street<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 \u201cDrive to 5!\u201d Avoid the crowd by leaving your car a 5-minute walk from school.<\/p>\n<p>DON&#8217;T:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Don&#8217;t block crosswalks, driveways, or fire hydrants<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Don&#8217;t make a U-Turn, back up, or use driveways to turn around &#8211; these moves can put kids at risk<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Don&#8217;t pass stopped vehicles &#8211; there may be a child crossing the street<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 We work closely with the municipality and police departmentother local community partners to improve safety in our school zones. More info: westvancouver.ca\/schoolroutes<\/p>\n<h3>Parking<\/h3>\n<p>Visitor parking is available at our school, but the number of spaces is limited.
