Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) came into force on July 1, 2014. The legislation affects electronic messages that may contain a commercial component, such as those that promote school fundraising, school supplies, field trips, program offerings, student photos, uniforms, books, dance tickets, community events and similar offerings. These items are an important aspect of school life that enhances student learning and contributes to the development of a vibrant, engaged student population.

While there is a transition period in effect for those who are already registered with our schools, the district is asking all parents and guardians to provide consent to receive communications such as our school bulletins and district newsletter. If you are new to our schools, this consent is an important aspect of communication between you, the school district and the schools in which your children are registered.

You will continue to receive operationally required information if you have a child registered in one of our schools, whether you provide consent for CASL or not. However, there are many opportunities throughout the year that may be missed if we do not have your consent to send commercial electronic messages.

Please note that you may choose to receive communications from the district and any of our schools, regardless of where your child will or is attending and you may update or unsubscribe anytime.
