Students in Jackie Wong’s WVSS Art West45 program have been working together with students in the Gitga’at nation to create a mural and educational opportunity, thanks to a grant received from the West Vancouver Community Foundation and Canada 150. Five WVSS students worked together with their teacher and the museum creator May 15 to bring the project to even more students by planning a day of activities to learn about First Nations culture and land. The students then contributed to the exhibit by creating their own artwork. The exhibit, which opened on May 10, will remain at the West Vancouver Museum until May 20. It will also be on display at the Harmony Arts Festival and the Museum of Northern BC for Canada’s 150th birthday.
