The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for the South Coast including:

  • North Shore
  • Howe Sound
  • Sunshine Coast

As a Pacific storm system is currently impacting the South Coast, Environment Canada is forecasting an additional 50 to 70 mm of precipitation this evening and overnight.  Temperatures are also expected to rise, with freezing levels reaching up to 2000 m or higher.

The result is stream and river levels rising to potentially unsafe levels.  More increases are expected throughout the rest of today and overnight into Friday morning.

As your children’s safety is our first concern, please caution them to stay clear of streams and rivers as the riverbanks will likely be very unstable.
