One Day Low Risk

For one day, low risk trips within Metro-Vancouver.
Approval: Submitted to Admin minimum 30 days prior to departure.

Multi-Day Low Risk

For overnight/multi-day, low risk trips within Canada.
Approval: Submitted to Admin, then to District Office minimum 60 days prior to departure.

International Field Trips

For trips of any length outside of Canada.
Submitted to Admin, then to District Office minimum 4 months prior to departure.

Skiing/Snowboarding Field Trips

For any skiing or snowboarding trips.
Approval: Submitted to Admin minimum, then to District Office 30 days prior to departure (60 days prior if overnight).

One Day High Risk

For one day, high risk trips within Metro-Vancouver.
Approval: Submitted to Admin, then to District Office minimum 30 days prior to departure.

Multi-Day High Risk

For overnight/multi-day, high risk trips within Canada.
Approval: Submitted to Admin, then to District Office minimum 60 days prior to departure.

Competition/Sports Field Trips

For all sporting event trips (other than skiing/snowboarding).
Approval: Submitted to Admin, then to District Office (if high risk or multi-day)
30 days in advance if possible.

Low Risk

Activity has minimal inherent risk, one day or multi-day
(i.e. walking field trip, public performances, museum tours, camping)

Supervision ratio:
K- Grade 3 (minimum ratio 1:8)
Grades 4-7 (minimum ratio 1:10)
Grades 8-12 (minimum ratio 1:15)

High Risk

Activity has increased inherent risk, one day or multi-day
(i.e wilderness experience, ropes courses, kayaking, swimming, horseback riding)

Supervision ratio:
K- Grade 3 (minimum ratio 1:8)
Grades 4-7 (minimum ratio 1:10)
Grades 8-12 (minimum ratio 1:12)
