Safe Routes Back to School

May 19, 2016 - 1 minute read

We all play a role our in our students health and safety. Walking and cycling to school promotes healthy habits and improves students’ concentration, even walking part of the way provides great benefits.

We start this year with some new initiatives; Drive to 5 locations, Car pool website, New parallel parking on Inglewood Dr., Volunteer parking passes along with our other traffic procedures; K- 3 drop/pick up on the Burley Dr. roundabout and grade 4-7 drop/ pick up on Inglewood Dr. We encourage parents to have students exit from the curb side of the vehicle closest to the school and to review the rules of the road before school starts.

It is easy to make mistakes when you are in a rush. Don’t speed, block lanes of traffic, make U-turns, double park, block driveways, pass cars at a cross walk, or use the drop off/pick up zone as a parking lot. These actions put OUR students at risk.

Let’s start the year of mindful of others, healthy and safe.
