First Aid Swim Training
February 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Passionate about swimming? Get credit towards lifeguard certification while in high school
The district’s highly successful First Aid Swim Training (FAST) program is currently accepting applications for the 2016/2017 school year. FAST is a young lifeguard education program that will allow students to develop the essential skills to be successful and confident lifeguards. At the completion of the FAST program, students will have obtained all of the required certification prerequisites necessary to enroll in the National Lifeguard Course, which they may take independently when they are 16 years of age or older. Completion of the National Lifeguard Course is the final credential necessary to qualify an individual to work as a lifeguard.
Open to students at least 13 years old at the start of the course, the program operates Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the West Vancouver Aquatics Centre and is open to students from all three high schools. Selection is based on a combination of grades, application date and swimming ability. West Vancouver Schools seeks to provide equal access to both genders and balanced representation from all three high schools.
